Tunes from the Hearth
-
Paddy on the Railway, Miss McLeouds, Carthy's House (reels)
Traditional arrangement: B P Lynch
The first two tunes here I learnt from the playing of Jimmy Gilsenan, a great fiddle player from the Lusk area, who sadly died in February 1988. His memory will live on in O'Connor's pub every Tuesday. -
Love of Our Islands (air)
Traditional Shetland Air
Trad. arr: B P Lynch -
Jackson's Jig, Sliabh Russell, Absent-minded Man (jigs)
Trad. arr: B P Lynch
I learnt and arranged these jigs myself and on this track they are belted out - just like Mick, Garry and myself always do. -
The Old Dungarvan Oak (song)
This song I learnt from Noel McGarry who often sang it, up until his death in June 1994. Noel was a great influence on me and I will never forget him. The song was written by a Mr Hennessy and made famous by Dermot O'Leary and The Bards. -
Wild Rose of the Mountain (air)
Traditional Shetland Air
Trad. arr: B P Lynch -
Galway Hornpipe, Wexford Hornpipe, Fishers Hornpipe (hornpipes)
Trad. arr: B P Lynch -
Morning Star, Mountain Road, Lad O'Byrnes (reels)
Trad. arr: B P Lynch -
Ashokan Farewell (air)
Soldier's Joy (hornpipe)
Trad. arr: B P Lynch -
I wish they would do it now (song)
Trad. arr: B P Lync
I learnt this song from Paddy Seavers, a unique man who came from Lusk and lived in a thatched house in Drisogue lane, Ballyboughal for many years until his death in May 1996. I sing this song in memory of Paddy but only Paddy could sing it with the unique style he possessed. -
Saddle the Pony, A Health to the Ladies, East at Glendart (jigs)
Trad. arr: B P Lynch -
Inish Oirr (air)
Trad. arr: B P Lynch
This most beautiful air was composed by Dublin-man Tommy Walsh. It was written, as its title suggests about the smallest of the Aran islands, Inish Oirr. -
Toss the Feathers, Jolly Seven, Temple House (reels)
Trad. arr: B P Lynch
